Celebrate Age Network
Aims of Celebrate Age Network (CAN)
- To promote the involvement of older people in the planning, development and monitoring of services across different sectors.
- To actively pursue consultation/involvement opportunities for older people by linking them with existing statutory and independent services and resources.
- To explore how older people, including those who are socially isolated, want to ‘have their say’, i.e. forum/panel/action group/issue based, and develop a range of mechanisms to achieve this.
- To build feedback loops for information to be relayed back to older people.
- To improve socialisation and access to learning opportunities for older people, by enhancing activities and support, where appropriate to the project.
If you are over 50 years of age, live within the Dundee City Council boundaries and wish to know more about the project and how you can get involved, please contact:

Scottish Government's consultation on future care for older peopleHere is the link to the new CAN Forum website – you can tell us what you think of it by completing a short web survey on the front page by clicking tell us what you think about our website at www.dundeecanforum.org.uk
Public Health Minister Shona Robison launched Reshaping Care for Older People by reiterating the government's commitment to free personal care, urging Scots to consider future care for older people alongside climate change and the economy as one of the country's top priorities.
Population predictions mean that while free personal care is an absolute commitment guaranteed by the Scottish Government, the ways in which older people's care is delivered must change significantly over the next two decades. If current models of care are sustained, the present care budget of £4.5 billion will need to rise by £1.1 billion by 2016 and £3.5 billion by 2031.
In partnership with Scotland's local authorities and involving the voluntary and private sectors, the programme will include a series of public meetings around Scotland. These will see the future challenges and possible solutions shared with a much wider audience, including older people.
