Benefit from a student placement within your organisation
The Higher Education Academy has commissioned a project to develop partnership working between Universities and the Voluntary Sector, particularly around creating student work placements and volunteering-based learning experiences within voluntary sector organisations.
As one of the early parts of the project, we are conducting a survey of voluntary organisations, and we need your views! Completing the survey will not only help us to take this forward, but if your organisation would potentially be interested in benefiting from a student placement during our pilot program, your details will be among the first on our list. Even if you are not interested in taking on a student or graduate work placement at this time, your views on this area of future work would be most appreciated.
The survey can be found using the following link: http://is.gd/AqA5 and should take you no longer than around 15 minutes. We would really like responses as soon as possible, but the survey will remain open for at least the next two weeks.
Please pass this along to any contacts you have that may be interested. The survey is specifically for voluntary sector organisation staff - we will be carrying out further surveys on other stakeholders of the project in due course.
If you have particular experience with partnership working with universities and/or taking on student work placements, we'd love to hear from you directly. Please contact me using the details below.
Please also take the time to check out our new project blog, where you'll find further information and ongoing updates if you keep checking back or subscribe here: http://sheenplacements.wordpress.com/
Many thanks for your time and assistance.

Skills improvement strategy
19/06/2009
A strategy to encourage employers to improve the use of skills in the workplace was published today by the Scottish Government.
It outlines how the Scottish Government, business representatives organisations, Sector Skills Councils, the STUC, the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations and others will increase awareness of the relevance and benefits of better skills use and of the range of workplace practices that help increase productivity and job satisfaction.
Microsoft and BT Scotland have also vowed to work together to pilot new communications approaches to get the message out to employers and to inform the development of future strategies.
