Third Sector Involvement in Community Planning

Community Planning refers to the process or mechanism whereby public agencies work together with communities in the planning and delivery of services. Communities in this sense can include geographic communities but also communities of interest such as young people.

Third Sector involvement is crucial to the Community Planning process. Community groups or organisations are often advocates for people who may not otherwise be able to participate fully in decision making. The Third Sector can help people to participate and become involved.

Third Sector Interface organisations across Scotland have a remit to:-

  • build the Third Sector relationship with Community Planning

This means that Third Sector Interface organisations will be part of the Community Planning Partnership in your local authority area, and Third Sector support agencies will work at a local level in your area to help you get involved with the Community Planning process.
