Get On Board our Community Clean-up

The Evening Telegraph launched Community Clean-ups

The Community Clean Up is an initiative aimed at completing grass root schemes in Dundee area communities and we would love local businesses and the local community to get involved.

We want to hear from people who can identify an area or areas in their community that are in need of repair, a fresh lick of paint or just a good clean up.

The aim would then be to have the project undertaken by a local business or businesses who can offer materials and or labour to contact us. As a project is being undertaken we would also welcome and encourage involvement from the local community.

As each project is undertaken, we will publish before and after pictures and feature a roll of honour, publicly thanking those businesses who contribute to making communities a better place to live.”

To take part in Community Clean-up, either as a community in need of help, or a business which can offer assistance, contact:

Tayside Biodiversity

Biodiversity is a fairly new word to our language, but it is becoming more and more commonly used and understood. It simply signifies the variety of life on earth in all its shapes and sizes – from smallest insect and fungus to the largest mammal or tree. In Scotland alone we may have around 90,000 species; worldwide there could be at least 30 million!

Tayside has a very rich biodiversity resource that is vital to its economy: tourism relies on our beautiful landscape, insects pollinate our crops, and the land provides raw materials for our food, drink, clothing, buildings and roads.

The Tayside Biodiversity Action Plan has two main aims:
to co-ordinate existing actions, as well as initiating and co-ordinating new ones; and to conserve and enhance the region’s biodiversity, taking into account both local and national priorities. This is not just the task of government - it concerns everyone. We are all responsible for our actions and the impacts we have on our local surroundings.
