‘Collecting Information to Report on Outcomes

You may be fairly clear about the outcomes of your project but need some ideas about how to collect information to measure them.

At this workshop you will:

  • Learn how to set outcome indicators to help you decide if you are achieving your outcomes.
  • Learn about methods and tools to collect information about outcomes.
  • Draw up a simple monitoring and evaluation plan for your project.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

  1. Set outcome indicators for their project/s
  2. Use different methods and tools to collect information about outcomes.
  3. Put in place a monitoring and evaluation strategy for their project/s.

MiDAS Training

WHAT IS MiDAS:

Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers.  Drivers who successfully complete the training programme will receive a nationally recognised certificate, valid for 4 years.

The tests will cover topics such as:

  • Legal responsibilities of a minibus driver
  • Passenger safety
  • Child passenger safety
  • Defensive driving
  • Manual handling awareness
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Accident and emergency procedures
  • Personal safety for drivers.

The training is in two parts:

  • Theory, which takes 3-4 hours.  This is done in a classroom setting in group of up to 10 people and includes a multiple choice question at the end.
  • Practical driving – this will take between 1-2 hours and involves familiarisation with DCT’s minibus.

What do you need to undertake MiDAS Training:

  • You must be over 21 and under 70
  • Hold a FULL current driving licence
  • Must have passed your test at least 2 years previously
  • Have a D1 category on licence or hold a PVC

PREVENT

Police Services, Local Authorities and the Voluntary Sector are committed to aims and objectives which include

  • Protecting vulnerable people
  • Engaging with the wider community safety strategy
  • Intervening early
  • Ensuring that staff are trained to recognise the importance of multi agency working to achieve these goal

One part of this wider community safety strategy includes the Government’s counter terrorism strategy, Contest, the aims of which include:

  • Respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism and the threat from those who promote it
  • Prevent  individuals from being drawn into terrorism and ensure that they are given appropriate advice and support
  • Work with institutions where there are risks of radicalisation that we need to addres

Dundee Voluntary Action intend to help raise awareness of this by hosting a 60 minute exercise on Thursday 23 February 2012 at 2.30 pm called Conviction which will be delivered by Tayside Police’s Community Engagement Officer for Prevent.  The programme for this exercise is as follows

  • Introductions
    • Knowledge check and explanations
    • Isa’s story
    • 3 Questions
    • 20 minute DVD
    • Discuss 3 questions and feedback
      • What makes him vulnerable?
      • Where are the opportunities to recognise concerns?
      • What are the factors leading to radicalisation?
    • Referring and support options
    • Key points

It is recommended that anyone who may come into contact with children or adults who may be vulnerable to radicalisation take part in this exercise which is FREE OF CHARGE.

PROTECTING PEOPLE AWARENESS WORKSHOP

Protecting People brings together local specialists from agencies concerned with: adult support and protection, the prevention of domestic violence against women, protection of children and young people and multi- agency public protection arrangements.

This awareness raising workshop has been developed to promote understanding of these issues.

By the end of the session you will be able to:-

  • Understand the principles that underpin protection
  • Explain your role and responsibilities for the protection of children, adults and communities
  • Recognise when the needs and rights of people are not met and they may be at risk of harm
  • List the indicators of possible harm, exploitation or neglect
  • Identify how your values and assumptions can impact on your responses to protection concerns
  • Describe how to respond to concerns
